Blue Dream CA78

My converted 25watt LED headlamp is one of the best upgrades I've done. It's an H4 bulb base. This is low beam.

It definitely shows up well in the photo and likely better in the flesh. I hadn't noticed those cable adjusters before. That looks like a good functional upgrade as well. Are the mirrors comparable to stock? Seems like you have a good wide view of what Charles and any ne'er-do-wells behind you might be up to!

It's probably even brighter than the CB400T2 Hawk with it's 45watt stock lamp. The early Benly's have little chrome star adjusters that I got a liken to, so they seemed a good subtle mod.
The mirrors are great, in that they had thicker 10mm stalks and came with 8mm adapters. They don't vibrate near as much as any 8mm ones, even the OEM. I was pleasantly surprised by that.

Those fishtail pipes really suit the bike style and are a throwback to that era for sure. Looking good with the headlight upgrade .... "be seen is my motto"

Yep, I've never been a fan of the visual with fishtails, but the sound of that bike would help me enjoy having them. My '64 CA72 at age 15 had aftermarket shotgun mufflers on it (longer versions of the Emgo shorties) and it had quite the excellent loping note at idle, but the fishtails sound even better.

I know, me too, in general, but I got to agree with Flying900 that on this bike they somehow look right. Maybe it's the fender flares.

I'll get a better audio/vid sometime soon. When I start it, it reminds me of the adrenalin rush from the jungle drums in a Tarzan movie.

Agree completely and the fender flares absolutely make them look like they belong. Wish I'd had those on my CA72, it would have been a lot cooler back then.

Yep, WOT. I ran out of road at 80mph so...?

Lol  How about installing a 'flux capacitor' like in that movie 'Back to the Future'?? only thing though.. you would need to get it up to 88mph :lightbulb: and set the time-machine's date to your choice :glee:

Oh no! I might end up having to go through adolescence again!

You don't want to meet-up with your younger self !
Set the dial for the late 50's and show your old/new Honda to some motorcycle dudes  Watch them check-out the modern design, then take a picture of them looking at it w/ your smart phone;then head 'back' ;)

Late 50's? I was crashing my tricycle then. My now, late, uncle with the Cushman would've liked it.

Thanks Bill, I've learned so much here from everybody who has chimed in. This has been one of the best apprenticeships I've ever had.

I now have over 800 miles on this rebuild. Finally running good with the coil, rectifier/regulator from Sparcks and additional grounding wires.
Here is the other thread on all that and the coil.

They are never really done. Second oil change coming up and taillight bulb issues with the LED bulb losing good connection periodically. I may go back to the stock incandecent type to see if it's better and more dependable.

Confessions of a boobus ballbearianus.
I lost my rare early side cover on the last ride. It is gone without a trace. I thought the knobs would hold it, but no.
Fortunate to find one on eBay for a very dear price of $165. My guilt outweighs my stinginess.
I resolved to overcome my forgetfulness on knob tightness checking with a sling of milspec elastic paracord. My Benly will get one too.
