I recently tracked down the elusive 61c needles and ordered them. I await their arrival as we speak. I have new carb kits from 4Into1, new air filters and air shocks. (A recent trip through Quebec made me understand the shortcomings of weak shocks on perhaps the most holey roads in Canada!) Shocks aside, I am wondering if I am doing the right thing with the needles. Before my trip I joined the exhausts and made a single down the right side. Sounds much better. Having done that makes me wonder about the jets, needles and anything that I ought be doing to the carbs. I read somewhere that the (primary?) jets should be coming from a 1983 CM450A setup?
Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks folks.

(Side note: New front brake cable, sync'd carbs and running high test only, I can get 128 to 140 kms before having to switch to reserve. I do Have knobbly tyres on now too...I have also noticed that after switching I am filling only by 7 or 8 litres. I have to carry a gerry can and test the reserve, I have a feeling I have the incorrect fuel switch)

Yes, the 61C needles were originally for the A model.
Looks like you're getting @40mpg which is low. 140km to 8L fuel.
You can adjust the reserve point by cutting the long brass tube in the petcock. Only cut a little at a time as too much cut can't be fixed. Maybe 1/4" for the 1st one. Ideal reserve is going to leave @.8 gallons.
