Actually took longer than I expected (though I may be slightly biased).
It did, and I guess we shouldn't really be surprised because of the number of legacy posts (that many of us created) getting the lion's share of search results until more recently. But we're the little engine that could, the pesky mosquito you can't catch.Actually took longer than I expected (though I may be slightly biased).
Glad you're here. I really enjoy the diverse atmosphere we have, it's amazing how many places Honda touched in their heyday with these fabulous old bikes.I'm just SO pleased to be a member of THIS group. Thank you all.![]()
The major problem with the British bike industry was that they introduced economists, the 'bean counters,' and management that knew nothing about bikes who had a contemptuous disregard to the Japanese competition. They said the competition wouldn't last but where is the British bike industry now?
Decline, yes, is there any wonder though. I often wonder why, due to reparations, Germany had brand new machine tooling after the Second World War and we were still using machines from the first World War. Very little investment because we we're in so much debt. That is so true in so many aspects of the UK today, sad decline from our glory days.
Thats me, no doubtLooking back at the post I did in August of 2025, I noticed this:

Seems the decline is real enough.

Yeah, and I could understand that on a voluntary basis - but this is forum-wide and probably corporation-wide as well and when a corporation is doing it, while suggesting products only because they get a slice of the pie and not for suggesting the best quality or value of any specific part for their members, that's just money-grubbing typical of what corporations do today. On another forum I frequent they have some sort of partnership with Amazon that when someone posts a link to a cool widget sold there, and someone follows the link and buys, the forum does get a small cut. But posting links is voluntary and never required.
