It did, and I guess we shouldn't really be surprised because of the number of legacy posts (that many of us created) getting the lion's share of search results until more recently. But we're the little engine that could, the pesky mosquito you can't catch.
 
Not helped by the vindictive nature of their admins, I was instantly permanently banned from a UK site dedicated to Ford cars, specifically the Kuga in my case. I made a passing remark along the lines of 'Oh no, not VS again', and was kicked straight off, along with a snarky comment from the admin.

Glad you're here. I really enjoy the diverse atmosphere we have, it's amazing how many places Honda touched in their heyday with these fabulous old bikes.
 
Honda and later the other Japanese motorcycle producers in the 1960's weren't considered serious competition to the British bike industry.
The major problem with the British bike industry was that they introduced economists, the 'bean counters,' and management that knew nothing about bikes who had a contemptuous disregard to the Japanese competition. They said the competition wouldn't last but where is the British bike industry now?

If Japanese bikes were rubbish they wouldn't be on the road nowadays never mind the race track. The history speaks for itself.

That is so true in so many aspects of the UK today, sad decline from our glory days.
 
Looking back at the post I did in August of 2025, I noticed this:

Decline, yes, is there any wonder though. I often wonder why, due to reparations, Germany had brand new machine tooling after the Second World War and we were still using machines from the first World War. Very little investment because we we're in so much debt.
 
I started seeing automated links in the text at HT recently and wondered who else they've sold out to for money - turns out it's Amazon. Anytime you see a Honda bike model designation linked to somewhere from HT, when you click the link it goes to an Amazon page of parts for that model. Many of those parts are by brands you've never heard of or probably wouldn't buy, and often what is listed are the wrong parts simply based on the incorrect models shown for those parts but I'm sure they get a cut of the sale regardless, all while not knowing or caring whether the member gets a quality replacement part, or even the correct part at all.

On another forum I frequent they have some sort of partnership with Amazon that when someone posts a link to a cool widget sold there, and someone follows the link and buys, the forum does get a small cut. But posting links is voluntary and never required.

Yeah, and I could understand that on a voluntary basis - but this is forum-wide and probably corporation-wide as well and when a corporation is doing it, while suggesting products only because they get a slice of the pie and not for suggesting the best quality or value of any specific part for their members, that's just money-grubbing typical of what corporations do today.
