Hi guys, new to the forum - first time posting. Quick question, I recently bought a CM400T (1980) w/o a key. I'm looking to purchase a new ignition switch, but I keeping seeing the one below online listed as compatible with the CM400T.

Why does this have only 5 wires in the connector and 1 flying lead. The one that I took out of my bike has all 6 in the connector. Do you guys know what this is about. Thanks for your help!

You have to be really careful with eBay sellers, they often do not know what fits what and they show the part number that is closest to the original part that theirs is similar to. If you haven't looked at your Welcome Package of helpful links, this is one of them and it offers many suggestions:

The part number the eBay seller is showing is correct for your needs according to CMSNL, but what he's offering is an aftermarket replacement piece. Yes it's inexpensive, but in this world of harder to find vintage parts you don't always want the best "deal" because of this type of situation.

Here is the OEM part as well as an aftermarket alternative for less, both sold by a major vintage parts supplier. They both have 6 wires, all in the plug as yours is.
