Hello, all! First time posting here but I’ve been a lurker for awhile. I’ll admit my searching skills in this forum aren’t very good so I apologize if this is a common question.

I have a CB750 K8 and recently decided to give my MAC 4into2 new exhaust gaskets. Well, since I put everything back together I’ve now got some popping coming from the exhaust header. I’ve read online that this is typically normal and will settle down after some time but I’d like to clear my nerves and get some opinions here. I don’t think I need to tighten anything any further for if I do I’ll end up cross threading. I did notice that cylinder 4 I can visibly see combustion when I pull the throttle and wonder if that is a sign that the exhaust is not sitting right, but maybe that is normal and something I’ve never noticed until I got my head down there? I’ll link a video here.

Thanks for any help guys.

Sounds like at least one exhaust leak at the header pipe, which could easily cause popping on deceleration. Looks like you'll need to recheck the new gaskets and the fit of the pipes at the head.

Might be good to remove the exhaust and really make sure there's not an old gasket sandwiched in there, and that the new ones are seating properly.

Yes it looks like there's a little leak there at #4 right at the end of the video.
I assume you made sure to remove every trace of the old gaskets?
Sometimes it's hard to tell.
Yeah double checked I got all gaskets removed thankfully it didn’t look like there was more than 1 in each cylinder. Thanks for confirming my suspicions on #4!

Thank you. I’ll get back in the garage and reseat everything. These are the times where an extra set of hands would make a world of a difference.

Yeah, when trying to install multiple pipes connected to each other, it can be challenging. Just ask anyone with a vintage CL model. :) Perseverance, you'll get it done.

Wanted to report back with success! Special thank you to @ancientdad and @Cycleranger. I’m embarrassed to say the cause of my issue was that I put the exhaust collars back on backwards. Guess that’s why they say the #1 rule is to take pictures and videos of everything as your taking it apart.

Lesson fully learned.
Glad you got it sorted. (y)

I'll take the easy D'oh! fix every time. At least you weren't wrist deep in carbs and timing before figuring it out.
