I have run across an early 1962 Dream 305 that I may be interested in. It is one that has the “early tank” with the chrome strip down the center. How can I be sure this is really an early model??? And the tank belongs on this bike And is not just switched from a different bike??? Will serial numbers be helpful ??? I’m waiting on serial numbers from owner. Here is tank photo. Thanks for any info!!-7502002949823403781.heic.jpeg

I have that same tank on a Dream but it is a 1962 CA72 model. Serial numbers on engine and frame will tell what it is.

Rizingson, Is there overlap in 1962 with the ca72 250cc motor and the ca77 305cc motor both having this same tank??? The current owner says it is a 305…..?

Also has the protruding badge mount circles on the chrome panels, aka "bug eye".

Mike Freitas and Bill Silver "Mr.Honda" may have info.

The early Dreams with the chrome strip down the middle of the tank are the CA72 (250) model. The CA77 (305) early model had no chrome strip and the gas cap was in the middle. Here is my '60C77 with the seamless tank.IMG_4215.jpeg

The contour of the seat front doesn't match the rear curve contour of the fuel tank. Is this significant? Did Yakeye buy this bike?

Thanks for everyone’s info. Decided not to purchase.

As you can see from my photo above of my '60 C77 tank the front of the seat cushion is bigger to cover the larger opening of the tank. The late Dream models have a smaller opening so use a different style seat.... usually an easy way to tell the difference is the early seat has a closed loop and late seat has an open fork design for the front attachment.
