When I left my home in South Dakota, I moved a few short miles to Bismarck North Dakota, about 130 miles due North, I didn’t move far.
I found a job at a Yamaha dealer then eventually moving to Sioux Cycles across town. The manager was Norman Tietz, a former AMA pro racer. When the 305 scramblers first came out, he built one up into the gorgeous bike you see here.

Here is Norm in action:

It’s interesting to note that the bike I worked on in 1977 had no brakes but Norm in action does have brakes so was perhaps from a TT course and not a flat track. I don’t know where this was taken. Norm was a successful and fast guy, once besting Dick Mann at the Sturgis half-mile feature. Note that the AMA had a number plate size and color convention so if you had a white plate with black numbers, you were an expert/pro racer.
I will post more as the lovely Nancy finds time to digitize (or I can coerce her to post!).
