Don't overlook our Welcome Package, it contains many links to important and helpful information about functions at VHT like posting pictures and sending PMs (private messages), as well as finding the parts you need.
Also, is the a specific torque I should be tightening all the frame bolts and struts to? Not really seeing anything specific in the manual. Is it just the standard tightening table?
If not specified, use the standard values.....
I get several to many calls a day, so it's a hit and miss type proposition.....Call anytime you can be at the bike....
Wife says I should charge a $5 minimum per call so I don't spend all day, and the phone bill is covered...LOL:lol:
Thanks! I think I actually got it figured out more or less. I also have to fix up my starter clutch while I'm in there. Do I need the rotor puller tool, or is there another way to get the rotor off?
Yes, as long as the size and thread pitch is the same it will work. Tighten the bolt against the end of the crankshaft inside the rotor, tap on the bolt head a little with a hammer, then tighten again and repeat. Do not hit the bolt too hard as it can cause loss of magnetism in the rotor if you get violent
Is there anything on the bike that would work? M16x1.5 is an odd size I guess and it doesn't seem like many stores carry it. I might end up having to just order something.
Nothing on the bike that I can think of, unlike the rear axle of a 350 working for both of them. Out of multiple listings found by searching for "CB450 rotor puller", this is the best deal
Also, check the outer clutch housing where the caps and rollers go in, sometimes in extreme circumstances it can get a crack in it. If it's cracked, the diameter expands enough that no parts replacement will make the clutch work correctly until the outer housing is replaced.
Got her running yesterday!! Thank you guys so much. I really appreciate all the help. Definitely couldn't have done it without yall.
I managed to get those pins out with some copper wire. They had mushroomed out so much that they got stuck, but now the clutch is working perfectly! It seems like the next step is rebuilding the carbs though. Definitely seems that they need it. Unfortunately 4into1 only has 450 carb rebuild kits but none for the 500t. I saw those guys in Houston has one but it doesn't come with floats. Does any one have a good lead on a rebuild kit, or should I go with the those guys in Houston one and buy floats separately from 4into1?
