Morning guys. I’m in the uphill side of a resto on a marketplace 175 K4.

Aside from the laundry list of small stuff I’m working on I’ll be getting into a valve and piston job shortly.

In the meantime I’m trying to distract myself with an easier issue. The bike came with a K6-K7 seat configured for the side flip. None of the mounting hardware is there.

I’ve got the correct front and rear latch release, I’m wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks to get a K6-K7 seat to fit with the K4/5 front release design? Looks like the mounting receiver slot was welded to the seat body.

Just trying to find any semi clean way to secure the seat at this point.

I amended the title to include the full model name of your bike (had to look at your profile to do so, please remember to add the full model name, or add it to your signature) because there are fairly significant differences between CB and CL models up and down the entire line of bikes from that era, including seats, tanks, and obviously exhaust. And the Smaller Twins section covers everything from CA to SS versions.

The biggest challenge will be the missing pivot points for the side hinge pins, which were welded to the frame from the factory, or opening up the seat cover to lift the foam off in order to install the rear hinge on the later seat but length and the fit to the tank might make it prohibitive.

I ended up buying a K6 frame, which is probably not what you wanted to hear. However, if you could find a scrapped K6 frame ( or K7 or CB200 ), it would be possible to cut off the seat hinges and seat lock assembly, get them welded to your frame. And of course, you need the matching fuel tank for your seat.

Thanks guys. Sorry ancient I’ll be more concise next time.

Well, since I’m not a purist, anyone have a good aftermarket recommendation?

Worst case I’ll cut my own plate and break out the jb weld
