71 CD175 kickstart shaft replacement.

After further investigation I have found that from Engine number 3049514 updated springs were fitted to the Honda CD175, and are the same size as the CB200 at 28.26 mm. So as my Engine number starts with 4001—- the clutch spring are the correct size and don’t have to be charged. I hope this will help other people with the same problem.
ps I think Engine number 3049514 was around the 1971 year but don’t quote me on this.

That's some good research and helpful information. I've added it to the FSM for future reference.

only to pleased to help, I have had lots of helpful information from other people on this forum. I’m not to sure of the year of change ( engine number 3049514 ) but it looks likely to be around 1971/2 . If anyone has a list of engine numbers and dates that would be great.

So I was quite a bit out on the dates lol. It also means that my little CD175 can’t be a 71 madel, as my engine number starts with 4001?

It's not "normal" per se, but at this advanced age it is really no different than if your car's engine went bad and you had a used engine put in it. You'd not likely know one year from another in a case like that, it's just that the Honda motorcycle engines have serial numbers and you can track it more easily
