Hello all!
I have been in the process of rebuilding a 1980 CM200t and having an issue getting the thing to run well. It seems that I cannot get the timing set correctly.
The symptoms are almost identical to this post on the HondaTwins forums but I am unable to get it to cooperate based on their resolutions. https://www.hondatwins.net/threads/1980-cm200t-static-timing-question.44937/
When setting the timing marks to T, the camshaft notch is parallel to the gasket surface as well as the cam chain cog's timing dimples. This is how the FSM states that it should be.
I'm using the oem points and points plate. I have tried setting the point gap to the maximum setting of .4mm (.016in) but the plate can't rotate far enough to get it timed to the F1 mark.
Does anyone have any experience with why this would be?
