@LongDistanceRider I've got another one for you... I'm ready to reassemble cylinder head to cylinder and when I was removing the gasket from the top of the cylinder I damaged one of the stud seals (rear outer stud which is oil passage also) so I ordered new ones (NOS part # 12909-413-000)... they fit snugly on the stud but don't reach the outer walls of that passage. Hoping you've done this before, I'm wondering if when you place the cylinder head does it compress the gasket which may flatten it out to be snug to the outer walls also? It's clearly a little smaller than the damaged one I took out... as I said, it's snug on the stud but it's outer diameter seems insufficient. I got the part of an ebay guy (competitioncycle123) and it came a Honda plastic bag with part number clearly marked on it, so it seems legit.
Do you recall any issue with this when you did yours? I'm just not sure how that stud seal is supposed to function if it isn't firm against the outer wall. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help. Jim

That seal gets compressed by the head and cylinder as the dowel slides into the head. It's important that the dowels slide into the head and cylinder easily. They don't see much pressure as the oil flow is inside the dowel.

thanks so much... that's what I was hoping for. Appreciate it!
