Center Stand - weld on stop plate?

So I got a center stand, but two things:

1) I do not have the factory exhaust, so no stopper there.

and

2) the center stand from ebay does not have the small plate with adjustable screw on the rotation arm.

What this means is that my center stand touches my chain when it is in the up position. Need to find a way to make it work!

Shall I just weld a piece of metal at the rotation arm to keep it from swinging up too far and hitting the chain?

Yeah, you'll need to fabricate a stopper to weld in place. Here's some pictures of the area you're working with
