Okay, maybe not the hardest… No… the hardest! 🫢
When I finished getting Indy ready for the road, he felt very smooth, so I didn’t perform a sync.
But, on rideouts, I noticed a bit of roughness at above 50mph. So, today, I balanced the carbs.
THEEEEE hardest job EVER!!! Sorry, have I said that 😁
Any of you synced CM400A carbs…. I’ve synced many carbs before, twins, triples and fours; but this!!

How in heaven‘s name are you meant to get to that sync screw!!! I have to guess Honda did this because they didn’t want people fiddling…

I did it and of course the benefit is, Indy is nice over 50 now. Had to remove the top engine mount and breather hose for space and gently put mole grips on the throttle so they rested on the brake lever. This rotated the adjuster so that I was able to get good purchase. I had great fun redoing it many times as it kept going out of sync.

One of you is going to say oh it’s easy, drill a big hole in the frame from above, makes it easier for the future 🙄😉

Yes, several of us have done it, Pretty sure it's the same for the manual engines as it is for the automatics. Its a good thing it not something that you have to do every few months. the 78 and 79 model years are harder than the 80-81 and I assume that also carries into the later 82+ 450. if you were like me you get it adjusted perfect then mess it up trying to get the locknut tightened, so you have to start over..... am I right?
