Just bought a project CA95 and the kick starter only moves a few inches. Pulled both side cases and I can turn the crankshaft backwards but if I try to to turn it over with the kick starter it locks up. Anyone seen this before? Am I looking at removing the bottom case to access the kicker shaft to look for broken parts? Thanks

Yes. At some point in time, a heavy foot driven by frustration can snap the cast ratchet assembly of the kick start mechanism. Not a bad idea to open up the engine case for inspection anyway. Just my 2 cents. Welcome.
