What's on the clock after 50 years?
It went from 1971-1975 or so with the instruments off, so the odometer isn’t accurate. It shows about 34,000 miles, but I’d guess the bike actually has over 40,000 miles on it.

I took the head off back in 1971 to fix a suspected head gasket oil leak, which turned out to be the tach drive seal leaking, a stupid teenager snafu. So, yes, it had a new head gasket installed in it 51 years ago…lolI'm curious about what isn't quite accurate in the article.
You've never been into the engine in all that time?

Yes, and the cam chain tensioner still seems to be in good condition, too. Not too worn, and no junk in the oil or “filter”.So all the parts in the top end have the roughly 40,000 miles on them, that it itself is quite the success story for the 350 engine.

This, and the rest of the story just makes me smile.
