I’m pulling the trigger this coming week on a 1970 CB450. I’m wanting to cosmetically make it in to a 1968 CL450. I’m also going to get a parts bike with a 1968 cl450 gas tank and complete front end. I know the seat is different, longer and hinges from the rear. Will the seat hardware bolt up to the 1970 cb450 frame or will modifications have to be made? Also, what other changes besides the exhaust will need to be made? Thanks for any and all information!!

Ed, you can determine the answers to most parts fitment questions by comparing part numbers. In my Welcome Package of links, there is a link devoted to identifying parts by using sites like CMSNL and Partzilla to look up part numbers to compare to earlier and later models to help understand cross-compatibility. Look at these 3 parts fiches to see that the rear-hinged seat carried over from the CL450K0 to the CL450K4 before changing to the side hinge version on the K5. Since the frames were virtually identical during those earlier years, you should have no trouble doing what you've planned. The tank's K-series may have to match the seat for proper gap fitment between them.

To be completely clear, I didn't check to see what parts were available, I checked the fitment of the different K models to show that the parts should interchange.
